These types are used to revolving in and out of confrontational treatment centers and though they do not know how to truly stay clean, because they have the rhetoric down, they feel that they should suffer in a militant type center in order to be clean. We encourage our clients to immerse themselves in recovery, but it is not a pre-requisite for attending our program. Is Summer House a Beach House or Resort Type Setting?
Though many have described our facility as a "bed and breakfast " type atmosphere, Summer House is not akin to a luxury beach spa. It is however an extremely laid back and comfortable setting that is unique in its homelike feeling of charm and warmth. The food is gourmet style, and we do reside on an intercoastal canal where there are ducks, and other forms of exotic wildlife that our clients find interesting to watch. You may fish while at Summer House provided you bring a rod and reel, or if you have a fancy for safari style nature watching you may bring your binoculars to view our wildlife Iguanas and exotic birds which gather daily by our intercoastal canal. You may also relax by the water in the healing South Florida Sunshine which will help you to return home looking healthy and vibrant as if you have just come off of a refreshing way overdue vacation.

Can I Become High From The Detox Cocktail?
The reason you come to Summer House is get clean without having to suffer. The detox cocktail will be administered in a tapering regime and while it is not our goal for you to become high off of it, there will most likely be spells in which you feel an advanced level of comfort that could include a slight "nod." As the dose tapers, there may also be times you feel a very manageable level of discomfort, like something is missing. This whole process of coming down off of drugs in a reduction cure is what we addicts always try to do on our own but never can because if we could control our own drug use we wouldn't be addicts. At Summer House, we lower you down in a liberal and compassionate manner - most people find it to be a pleasant surprise how smoothly it is achieved.

Is This One Of Those Stingy Medicating Houses of Pain Where Addicts are Told Things Like "No One Ever Died Of Lack Of Sleep, or 'Just Take A Hot Shower?'"
You must realize that the concept of Summer House was born from one gentleman's extra nightmarish "kick" from extreme poly drug abuse. This fellow is documented to have been unable to sleep for over thirty days with the exception of a few rather disturbing "cold sweat" catnips. His eyes were two big black saucers and because of his drug use and withdrawal discomfort he could hardly speak. After this "kick" the idea came to him that he would one day offer an easier softer detox and many years later Summer House came about and became a family calling. It has become a family tradition to assist other addicts in coming down off of drugs with this liberal medical protocol. How Is This Better Than A One Day Detox Flush Or Something Experimental And Way Out There Like An Herbal Root Cure?
There are many pop medicine/quack methods that are offered as ways to come off of drugs two examples being the one day detox and herbal root Ibogaine cure. In the case of a one day detox, experience has shown that this is dangerous and extremely harsh on the nervous sytem in that an addict goes under with a full habit and awakens completely clean yet in PAIN as if they have just received a harsh shot of narcon, the opiate antaganist! There have been many fatalities using this technique and most people will tell you it is an unexplainably unpleasant experience. In the case of Ibogaine or herbal root cures, this is an unregulated, non FDA approved procedure that is extremely expensive and generally regarded as the epitome of quakery. How Do I Arrange To Come Into Summer House?

1) We accept most major insurance plans excluding medicaid. If you wish to have the next available bed you may submit this form below with your pertinent info and our co-ordinator will contact you immidiately to inform you when the next bed is available and if your insurance has been pre-certified. Simply click on the pink "hold a bed" link below and fill out the form and hit submit. If you are extra anxious to speed up this process and want to freeze a bed you may also fax in a self pay form and a bed will be reserved immidiately upon receipt of your fax. This form is the yellow link at the bottom of the page.
2) For those who wish to self pay we offer a scholorship rate. If you wish to have the next available bed you may submit this form and in the field that asks for comments you would indicate that you wish to self-pay. At the time we receive your fax an available bed will be frozen for you or we will prioritize scheduling you in on the date you indicate on our form. How Long Will I Stay At Summer House?
Your Stay will be determined by two factors. First off we will need to know how much of what substance you are using and for how long. The second factor is how quickly you want to withdraw. For those with the luxury of time it is of course easier to have a slower more gradual reduction.

What Do You Use To Detox With?
Summer House uses a liquid cocktail which is a combination of several potent medications which you will receive every four hours around the clock in reducing doses until you are clean. One of the medications is a short acting narcotic which will, in most cases, initially meet or slightly exceed your current "habit" to ensure that you are comfortable during your stay with us.
Is This a Confrontational Treatment Center?
Summer House is a relaxed detox center where you will receive medication to make coming off substances relatively easy. It is not an 'in your face' type atmosphere but rather a caring family run homelike facility where a combination of withdrawal easing medication and amenities will make this trying time as cozy and comfortable as possible. Most people actually seem to enjoy and feel relieved to be at Summer House because they are not sick and know they are now on the right track.
May I Smoke and Drink Coffee At Summer House?
Though some treatment centers ban smoking and caffeine intake, at Summer House you may smoke and drink coffee. Smoking is in designated areas which are very comfortable. You may also bring your computer and cellular phone as well as any walkman disc players or favorite DVD discs which you may watch on our system. It is our goal to make you as comfortable as possible.
